I/We have made two important decisions this weekend.
1. I am going to attempt to prepare and photograph ALL 150 recipes in the French Laundry Cookbook by the end of the year. I'm documenting my new insanity project on LJ because it's just easier. If you want to point and laugh follow along, I'm thinking about doing a companion blog over here because of how easy it is to upload photos. Hmmm, now I'm conflicted about whether to just do one over here.
2. We're retiring in Costa Rica. Probably. :) More on that later.
Wolfie took pictures this morning of me and the kids.
My knitting projects currently include a chemo cap for my friend Erin, plus a toque patter I found that I think she'll like, TWO (count them TWO) shrugs because I decided I needed them in two different colors, and a baby blanket for Nan.
Went on a yarncrawl, which is like a pub crawl only you get drunk on handling yarn, on Monday with two friends. I bought some wool to make a Christmas stocking because I decided that was the best way to learn how to do socks. Aren't I smart? :)
I think, maybe, possibly, spring is just around the corner in Denver. Goddess, I hope so. So over the ice and snow!!
I have to grit my teeth and force myself to learn continental style knitting. I took almost the whole week off last week from working on my shrug and as soon as I picked up the needles yesterday, my left hand started thobbing! GRRRRR
I'm pretty sure I'm just making way too many repetitive moves, even more than I should be with regular crossoever stitches. I'm not a smooth, efficient knitter AT ALL.
So, I'm going to watch videos on youtube and this other place I found instruction knitting vids on line because I have to see it being done or I sit there staring at my hands not sure at all what they're supposed to be doing.
Wish me luck!
Of the good, however, was the concert at Bluebird Theatre Friday night. Carbon Leaf kicks major ass y'all and if you ever get a chance to go see them live, it is so worth it. They're such cute, adorkable boys, especially Barry, the lead singer who can't keep his fingers and hands still to save his neck. I wanted to take them home and feed them pie (after I crawled into their laps). They played my favorite song by them third on their playlist and I was a very happy Meg.
In the last picture, the Haaco products are what we used at the restaurant and wouldn't even cook at home without them. They're a Swiss company and you may even have to be in the industry to buy...nah, on second thought, I don't think so. But finding them can be ... interesting. :)
We use the glace de viande, vegetarian glace de viande, espagnole sauce, hollandaise sauce (yes I cheat!) and Chicken stock from that line.
A woman of strength, grit, patriotism, grace and sharp wit. You will be missed and always remembered.
Molly Ivins, RIP.
